A limited-edition series by Fossil Free Culture NL: three items that together make up a full set for a do-it-yourself disobedient art performance: a bottle of fake oil, a stained scallop shell and a one-person banner.
The DIY Disobedience Kit 2 is a scallop shell marked by hand with a spill of carbon-black ink. It comes from the same batch as the 411 shells we placed throughout the Van Gogh Museum for our installation Shells Everywhere, one for every part per million of carbon dioxide in the air that day. This one never made it into the museum. Where it ends up is for you to decide. Watch how the shells found their way in, and take it from there.
The DIY Disobedience Kit 2 is a real scallop shell, marked by hand with a spill of carbon-black ink. Each shell comes in its own cardboard box, so it arrives safe and whole.
Warning: institutions do not appreciate a stained shell in their galleries, only a stained sponsor in their accounts.
